James “Jimmy” R. Starks, age 57, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Hamilton Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 27, 1956 in Dalton, Georgia to Roy and Kathleen Starks.

Jimmy loved watching the GA Bulldogs, playing cards, hunting, fishing, softball, playing bingo and hanging out with his many friends.

He is preceded in death by his mo.ther, Kathleen Starks; grandparents, Clifford and Carrie Starks, and Charlie and Radie Martin.

Jimmy is survived by his son, Josh Starks; grandchildren, Chandler Starks, Brennan Starks and Nathaniel Starks all of Dalton; father, Roy Starks of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Diane Starks of Dalton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deborah and Michael Tedder of Chatsworth, Carol Starks of Dalton, Teresa and Gerald Parks of Dalton, Sharon and Adrian Newton of Chatsworth; he is also survived by aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Special thanks to the family and friends, the staff of the US Renal Care Center and the staff of Hamilton Medical Center for the years of friendship and caring services.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of James “Jimmy” R. Starks will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 30, 2014 at the chapel of Dalton Funeral Home with Allan Pacheco officiating. Interment will follow at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Anthony Cooper, Dennis Powers, Dewayne Powers, Mike Tedder, Shawn Starks, Drake Starks, Chandler Starks, Jim Lansing and Tony Stewart will be serving as pallbearers, with his great nephews serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 4:00 till 9:00 PM on Sunday evening.
