Lester Atkinson

Lester Dale Atkinson, 25, of 70 Hampton Court, Apt. 1, Dalton, died Sunday, April 16, 1989, in Hamilton Medical Center, due to injuries resulting from a softball accident.

Survivors include his wife, Tonya Rene' Davis Atkinson; one son, James Andrew Atkinson; mother and father Mr. and Mrs. James R. Atkinson of Dalton; six brothers, Charles Atkinson, Leroy Atkinson, Mickey Atkinson, Randy Atkinson, and David Atkinson all of Dalton, and Larry Atkinson of Kentucky; six sisters, Doris Hobbs of Taylorsville, Martha King, Judy Atkinson, Linda Ernest, Rene' Atkinson and Patsy Jones all of Dalton; grandfather, Judd Atkinson of Cartersville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Kenemer Brothers Funeral Home, with the Revs. Milton Ramey, Clayton Brown, and Leon Phillips officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dug Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today after 5 p.m.

The Queen Carpet softball team will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a trust fund for his son Andrew Atkinson at First Atlanta Bank in Dalton.

Kenemer Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
