Doug Allen

Douglas Dewitt Allen, 59, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Commerce, he was the son of the late Cleveland Dewitt Allen and Rosa Lee Allen Bridges. Mr. Allen was a locksmith in the maintenance department at the University of Georgia, and prior to his employment with the University, he was a self-employed brick mason. He was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Delores Dee Allen of Winder; daughter and son-in-law, Amy Allen Lester and Scott Lester of Colbert; stepdaughters, Dana (Mike) Nations of Watkinsville and Denise Townsley of Ponca City, Ok.; sister, Elaine Threlkeld of Hull; half-sister, Dawn Allen of Winder; grandchildren, Gavin Lester, Grayson Lester, Justin Nations, and Elizabeth Nations; and nieces, Ginger Bray and Tanisha Pate. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Lord & Stephens West Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Children's Ministry. Lord & Stephens West, Athens, is in charge of arrangements
