Mr. Donnie Vernon Ashworth, 62, of 2729 Corinth Church Rd, Royston, died Monday, August 26, 2013 at his home.

Born on February 13, 1951 in Royston, GA, he is the son of Verna Williamson Ashworth of Royston and the late Alton “Happy” Ashworth. Mr. Ashworth was a machine operator for Royston LLC, and was a member Hannah’s Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, survivors include a daughter, Tanya Pfeiffer of Danielsville; a brother, Gerald Ashworth and his wife Martha of Hartwell; and a sister, Wanda Keese and her husband Rodney of Bowman; three grandchildren: Kellie Miller, Jody Miller, and Drew Miller; one great-grandchild, Arielle Miller; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Ashworth was preceded in death by his father, Alton “Happy” Ashworth.

Memorial services will be Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Lee Smith and Rev. Jim Carey officiating.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends on Wednesday night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The family is at the home. Flowers are optional or special memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 855 Gaines School Road, Athens, GA 30605.
