I started  school with Steve in first grade and  remember that great sense of humor  and  friendly outgoing personality that he possessed. He was a true friend to many of us.

Steve was always such a happy, delightful person. We all were devastated by his death. It still bothers me to think of it to this day.  Matt 10:29 says that God remembers a sparrow that falls to the ground. We can be sure He will remember Steve.

Jerry McElreath sent me some information from high school.  One was the May 16th, 1969 Raiders digest.  This was the article about Steve Mealor writtten by James Mullins.

In Memory of Steven Ray Mealor

At Madison County High School, I would say that there isn't anyone who did not know Steve.  He was the type of person who always had a grin on his face and would go out of his way to help anyone he could.  Steve was the kind of person who never did anything to hurt anyone, because he always thought of everyone else first and himself second.

He had a great sense of humor, always laughing and thinking only the best things of life.  All the teachers that have had Steve liked him and got along with him.  I guess he was the type of person everyone liked.  He was just a great person.

Steve attended Danielsville Elementary School for eight years.  Then he came to Madison County High School for four years.  He was a member of the senior class of 1969.  He was 17 years old.  While in high school Steve was a member of Hi-Y and 4-H.

Steve will be missed by all the people who had the pleasure of knowing him.
