Ricky Sartain

Mr. Richard Douglas Sartain, affectionately known by many as Rick, age 58, of Crab Apple Lane in Ridgeville near Cottageville, entered into his state of eternal rest Wednesday morning, May 5, 2010, in Americus, Georgia.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 oclock Tuesday morning, May 11, 2010, from Cottageville United Methodist Church, 44 Peirce Road, Cottageville, with The Reverend Wally West and The Reverend Sidney Mims officiating.

Rick was born July 14, 1951, in New York, New York and was a son of the late John Frank Sartain and the late Mary Joe Tyner Sartain. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was a HVAC mechanic by vocation and a musician by vocation. He was a member of Cottageville United Methodist Church. He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and he never met a stranger.

Surviving are: his wife of thirty-three years, Mrs. Gail Smith Sartain; two daughters, Kristin Christopher and her husband Bobby of Cottageville and Katie Boatwright and her husband James who are stationed in Guam; and a brother, Edwin Lance Skip Sartain and his wife Deb of Atlanta, Georgia. He was extremely proud of the fact that that his family was expecting their first granddaughter, Lilly Coral Christopher. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Michael Sartain.
