We lost her to cancer in 1995.
Eulogy:
I am generally not good with words. And yet I've been wanting to give a eulogy for my mother which is near impossible task for me. I've decided to do it today on her birthday, April 5th.
How can I summarize a mother’s love.. A lifetime of unconditional love and support..
She was the protector – and rock – of our family. My mother's gift – what made her special and beloved to many - was her innate ability to support people who were in need of protection. She was a medical doctor, a pediatrician. But, the circumstances didn’t matter. It could have been her little patients or their parents at the hospital. Or her little niece battling with a risk of misdiagnosis.. Or her resident physicians and interns struggling through medical school and exams. Or her newborn intensive care unit facility which she painstakingly established. Or may be a lifelong friend with breast cancer. Or maybe her sisters and brother who were far in distance but near in heart. Or her children who were trying to find their way and make sense of the world. She was there to protect even when she was struggling through cancer.. And of course let’s not forget that you were with dad for 30 years.
Always, she’d be there for support, especially if you were a bit
lost or down and out. She was there to protect but never to neglect..
That was solely her job.. Her heart was pure..
If you want to truly honor my mother, I ask that you take heed of this
amazing gift that she had. Be vigilant protectors yourself...
I’ll miss you always....
