DAVENPORT - David Atzen, 57, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Private burial will be at a later date in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Rock Island Elks Club.

Mr. Atzen was born February 11, 1952, in Davenport, the son of Raymond and Marie (Burke) Atzen. He was a member of International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers since 1990. Previously he had been employed by Thunder Bay Grille.

He was a member of Rock Island Elks Club and was an excellent cook and avid fisherman and gardener.

Survivors include siblings and spouses, Tom and Mary Atzen, of Bloomington, Ill., and Mary and Dale Gillooly and Sharon and Jim Jeys, all of Davenport; nieces, Tracey, Catherine, Kerry and Jessica; a nephew, Joseph; and a great nephew, Hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert, and a niece, Christine.
