August, 23, 2012 | Sign the Guestbook | Email AnnouncementDAVENPORT — Jeb Platt, 58, formerly of Davenport, passed away on July 25, 2012, in Milwaukee. Jeb was born Aug. 31, 1953, in Rock Island, to John and Joe-Ann Platt. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1971. He was united in marriage to Susan F. Noah on Jan. 17, 1975.
A celebration of Jeb’s life will be held Friday, August 24 at 7 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2400 North Cramer, Milwaukee, Wis. Private burial will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, please send a memorial donation to NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness, www.nami.org or 1-888-999-NAMI.
Jeb was a prominent figure in Milwaukee’s addiction and recovery community, foremost, as a recovering person, but also as a counselor and treatment director. He was also a writer and poet, and active in the community. As an actor, he appeared in such films as “Sleep in It” and “Heavy Hands.” He brought his love of people and poetry to his radio program “Poetry is Anarchy.”
Survivors include his children, Justice (Anna Raff) Platt and John Platt, Milwaukee, and Wesley Crouch, Overland Park, Kan.; sister, Jo-Ellyn (Douglas) Elliott, LeClaire; brother, Joseph (Julieann) Platt, Vancouver, Wash.; and father, John (Shirley) Platt, Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joe-Ann, and sister, Judy Collins.

 

 

   The Class of 1971 will miss you, Jeb.
