PALM BAY, Fla. — David Lee "Shrek" Straight, 61, of Palm Bay, Fla., passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 7, 2015. David was born on July 2, 1953, in Davenport, the son of Stanley and Elizabeth (Avery) Straight. He graduated from West High School in 1971.

He actively served his country for 26 years in the United States Air Force as a radar technician, both overseas and stateside. He retired as SR MSGT and continued to serve in the Civil Service for an additional 13 years at Patrick Air Force Base as a chief quality assurance evaluator before deciding to retire to spend time with his loved ones.

He had a love for motorcycles, spending time at the shooting range and summers in Iowa with his parents, brothers and sisters.

David is survived by his son, David Jr. (Carla), and two daughters, Amber Straight and Crysilin (Travis) Ramsey; eight grandchildren; mother, Elizabeth; brothers, Stanley and Robert (Jan); and sisters, Mary (Matt) Orwitz, Cynthia (Terry) Dumerauf and Suzanne (Richard) Lindbom. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlissa; his father in 2014; and two grandchildren.
