Ray was a dear friend of mine. We use to talk on the phone and complete our math homework together. He gave me a standing ovation once for attending school for a full week (I had a bad case of senioritis). Ray was my date for the Jr. Prom -- We lost touch for a while after high school -- I think he moved out of town. I plan to post pictures I have of him from my high school memory book. I was devastated when I found out he passed...

I tear up as I think of Ray! I stayed in contact with Ray over the years. We hung out several times in our stumping ground of Cincinatti. Ray was a good guy and loved life! He'll be missed.

Only a few know but Ray was my heart. We grew up together and lived on the same street for years. The first time I layed eyes on him I was like; daaaag who is that short, fine, brown, bow legged boy! My first experience with love at first sight! The first couple years of high school, Junie walked me to the bus stop almost every day, carried my books and "stood" on the bus so I'd have a seat. He was such a gentleman. Even after he went off to the Service he kept in touch. I really miss our friendship. We never dated but I had a lot of love for Junie (those who really know Ray know him by Junie). I was so hurt when I heard he passed I couldn't even go to his funeral. I only wanted to remember him with that huge smile on his face!

Ray's passing came as a shock to me. I've known Ray since our being in kindergarden together. He refereed my first fight -against Jimmy Woody (Highview Elem.)! He was always funny and a true friend.

I fondly remember "Smiley Ray." Always a gentleman. And couldn't he play that trumpet in the school band? :)
