I was sorry to hear about Kenny's passing from fellow Class of '85 Alum Darryl Underwood. Kenny and I were in the same section 1 Commercial Art class for 2-3 years. I'll always remember Kenny as a great-natured guy who was very sharp and had a great sense of humor. As example...

One morning, I came into school and went to my locker to get my toolbox which contained several hundred dollars worth of art supplies. The lock on my locker wasn't that great, so I wasn't too surprised when my locker easily opened without my having to turn the combo lock. I was, however, VERY surprised to see that my toolbox was GONE! In it's place was a note reading:

"Hey Dumba**. We stole your tools and wrote this note with your own pen. Get a better lock next time!".

Needless to say, my heart sunk at the prospect that my tools had been stolen, the thief chose to mock me and it would cost several hundred dollars to replace my airbrush and other supplies. I skulked off to class ready to make my excuses to Mr. Inghram as to why I didn't have my tools.

Kenny came up to me and asked, "Hey Scott, what's wrong?".

"Man, Kenny, someone stole my tools." I replied.

Kenny smiled and said, "Well, why don't you go and look in the darkroom".

I did just that and found...MY TOOLBOX! Kenny had been the perpetrator here and had played a fantastic practical joke on me! Mr. Inghram's voice boomed as I chased Kenny out of the room and down the hall, "MR. DIXON, BIG GUY...GET TO CLASS NOW!".

Kenny was a great friend and the person I tried to be like in track. I was a late bloomer:I really didn't come into my own in track until senior year.  Until then I tried to do everything Kenny did. He helped me in track, and I helped him in Commerical Art. I really miss him and it really hurt when he passed. I most remeber that silly sense of humor and that he loved to watch all kinds of movies at home. He and his family had one of the biggest movie collections I had seen back then.

Kenny was really silly but he also had a really big heart. He and Ben Clay were mostly responsible for me running in the state meet(that we won). A relay team could officially have five people and I was #5, but Kenny and Ben-along with Dale B. and Robert B. came up with this scheme to pretend Ben was sick so I could run the mile relay/4x4. I didn't know anthing about this plan. The other guys had already won events, and they didn't wan't me to graduate without winning one too. That was touching. And I did end up being recruited by a few schools for track. Okay-I'm in tears now, so I'll stop here.

I had forgotten about Scott getting "pranked!" That was funny! I think I was in on that.

Now it's been a few years now with our lost school mate and friend,I would say one of the good ones has been taken too soon;you didn't have to be a close friend he made you that once you made his acquaintance. I had the opportunity to coach with him, soccer out in Trotwood;our son's and a great bunch of kids got to be around one the best to explain and show what and how the game is to be played,it was where you can see where his gift was, with kids,boys...girls our young folk. Fair with everyone willing to show what they can do to improve and full of encouragement. That goes without saying in school he did the same for those he ran with, but as well those who didnt, not one for track,he still was a big help with me on xcountry,he was first team but he would root that second squad on like he was running with us. A true teammate. He was aswell a greatclassmate, I can say while not in his section he was helpful with his talents,a great artist;he shared his craft aswell as his time. For me getting to know Kenny, and caoch with him allowed me to see how great a person he really was,If you got to be around him any you were blessed . I beleive we only get to meet only so many good people in our lives,if you spent any time with Kenny Dixon you were blessed.
