Lt Col Patrick T. Gregoire, USMC, was a FA-18A Fighter pilot. His aircraft went missing 22 Aug 1996 during a training mission in the Atlantic Ocean 50 miles off the Virginia coast from Andrews Air Force Base, MD. Maj Gregoire was based at a reserve unit, the 321st Marine Fighter Attack squadron that flies out of Andrews, located 15 miles east of Washington.
Buried
Quantico National Cemetery Quantico, Prince William County, Virginia (Plot MA, 0, 54)
I remember Pat Gregoire as a great athlete and friend to many of us in high school. What I didn’t know about Pat until recently was his entire family served in the military. His dad was an Air Force veteran of 21 years. Pat had four brothers who all served in the Marine Corps and a sister who served in the Navy. With Pat’s passing in 1996, the Gregoire family who had already served their country with distinction became a Gold Star Family that understands the true meaning of sacrifice.
