It's hard to believe it's been almost 14 years since Jeff's tragic passing. Very few days go by that I don't think of what a great friend Jeff was to so many- I consider myself very lucky to have been considered one of his close friends and will always appreciate the honor of being a pall bearer as so many paid their final respects to a wonderful young man.
I saw Jeff's parents two years ago when my Dad passed away and - 12 years later - you could still see the pain in their eyes. I know there are some who say that time heals the deepest wounds, but I miss Jeff as much in writing this as I did that morning when I got the call from my Dad telling me he was gone.
When you're ten feet tall and bulletproof in your teens and twenties, it takes a sobering experience to begin to appreciate the value of life and friendship. It's a lesson well-learned.
