Mike Maatouk committed suicide in Dearborn in January 1992. He was 20 years old. I miss him, and I'll always love him.

Rob: He is buried in a cemetery in Plymouth. I visited once; can't remember the name of the cemetery. There was no headstone. It was awful.

I'm in shock! I'll always remember Mike as smiling ALL the time. What a great guy! Thanks for the update Alison.

Thanks Alison. Mike was such a good guy and free spirit and funny. Those are my thoughts when I think of him. He is sorely missed by me personally and wish he was still with us and help make the world a better place by being a part of it.

I found Mike. He is buried at United Memorial Gardens in the Islamic Section #1, Lot 15A, Grave 1. I went to the grave today at lunch (12/10). I'm happy to report Mike has a HUGE flat stone with arabic writings (today about $4,000)! I took a picture of it today (12/11) - http://www.findagrave.com/photos/2008/345/31371505_122902412080.jpg, had it transcribed and made the updates to his Find-A-Grave page.

Mike was one of those rare gems that always had a kind word and a smile on his face. In fact, I always felt better just being around him. I talked to him only a month before--I had no idea. Still in shock and miss him terribly. He HAS a wonderful spirit!

I remember Mike as being very friendly and, as said already, he seemed to always be happy. Last I saw him was when I was working at Ballys in Dearborn, around November of '89. He just became a member there and he was glad to see me since he didn't know anyone that worked out there yet. Unfortunately I was just about to move and didn't have the heart to tell him that I wouldn't be there much longer. He was always kind and a good friend.

He was somebody i hoped to see again someday. I heard about his passing a short while after it happened and in a way always hoped that what i heard was just a rumor. It saddens me to know that he is gone. I always think about him when i pass by his house which was just off Southfield near Oakwood.
He was just a great guy... laughter, jokes, and a good heart. I'm just floored at how he passed... I'll never get that, ever. He will be very missed.

Mike was one of my favorite people so I feel compelled to write. He was so jovial, energetic and mischievious and so much fun to be around. A group of us attended Dearborn High for French class and sometimes we would hitch a ride back either by bus or with Mike. One time we were riding back with Mike in a snowstorm and we fishtailed and the hood to his huge car just flew up crashing into the windshield and we couldn't see. Five screaming teenagers driving down Rotunda with the hood up were really relieved when we pulled into the parking lot. I think of him occasionally and just smile.
