Sweet Ken, had such a great smile and lovely disposition.  So sad that you are gone.

Ken was such a nice guy.  He lived a couple of blocks from us and was over to the house all of the time.  He always made me laugh.

Ken was a good friend especially during our Senior year.  Ken Beckman recently circulated a picture of the Bryant J.H.S. swim team.  Ken was a diver on the team.  I often wondered why Ken didn’t continue as a diver at DHS.  When cheerleading tryouts for our Senior year were open to include men, Ken, Vern Alley and I gave it a try.  Ken was an obvious choice both because of his athletic ability and his unbridled enthusiasm.  Over the summer of 65’ Ken and I worked in the bath house at the Levagood Park pool and tried to prepare for cheerleading.  Ken was the better athlete while I was the comic relief.  We both enjoyed out time on the squad.

Somewhere over time I lost my H.S. yearbook.  I mentioned it to my mom and she found a copy at a local sale.  When I received the book I opened it to see the front and back liners filled with notes to Ken.  I have never read those notes because it seems like it would be a violation but the book will always be a reminder of Ken.

It was a different time.  We didn’t seem to embrace differences back then so much as we are at least supposed to today.  Rest in peace friend.

Ken used to come over to the house all of the time and we would go in the basement and we would

dance all around.  He was such a good dancer and so much fun to spend time with.  He loved life and he loved people and it is so sad that he left us so young.  I remember when he worked at Seashore Pool in Dearborn and I was always there so I saw him a lot then, too.  I think of him often and miss him very much.  I know that he is at peace!

I was so saddened to learn that Ken is gone!!   He was one of my fellow Thespians. My favorite memories of high school center around the theater, all the goofy kids, and Mr. Valentine.  Ken was witty, energetic, loving, and so talented!      Dennis (see comment above), I am sure that there is a message to Ken (or "Cibby", as we used to call him)  from me in the yearbook that you found.  Ken's friendship helped me to navigate the chaotic passage that we call high school.

I hope he had some joy before he left.      Sara Long Blythe
