Below is a message from Pat Sanders Aldridge:

Last Wednesday, July 31, 2013, the DHS class lost another friend, Nancy Blackwell Gordon.  She had been ill for some time, and God felt it was time for her to come home to Heaven and end her suffering. I know that you and I will miss her.  I have been in touch with her son and her daughter during the last few days, and they have asked me convey their thanks  for all of your cards and messages that she received.  I have been assured that she was able to read and appreciate each and every one of them. Jake (her son) and Amanda (her daughter) wanted everyone to know how wonderful your outpouring of love and concern has helped them and what it meant to Nancy. They also wanted to convey to the Class of 59 how much she continued to enjoy the website.  I think we all feel that way.  THANKS, CLASS OF 59. I know we will all remember Nancy and what a sweet, wonderful friend she was; I feel as though I’ve lost a member of my family. There is a new hole in my heart. This loss reminds us of our friendship ties and our frail mortalities.  May our friendships stay as close as God is close to us today

I have fond memories of Nancy in high school. She was my dance partner in the Senior Scrambles. I missed the practice sessions due to surgery. Nancy did not get a new partner and was super in helping me through the performance.

Nancy and I lived right across the field from each other when we were little girls. That field was in Austinville. We always had a fun time. I called her right before the 50th Reunion. I got to tell her I loved her and I have many special memories of our times together.
