I KNOW THAT RAND WILL POST FOR LIBBY BUT I WANTED TO ADD MY MEMORIES ALSO. LIBBY IMPRESSED ME IN HIGH SCHOOL WITH HER SMILE AND HER ANGELIC VOICE. IN A TALENT SHOW OR SOME EVENT AT SCHOOL, SHE SANG SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAIN BOW.IT HAS STAYED WITH ME THROUGH THE YEARS.EVERY TIME I HEAR THAT SONG OR SEE A RAIN BOW, I SEE LIBBY'S FACE.SHE WAS A SWEET AND KIND PERSON. SHE WAS A RN AT THE HOSPITAL FOR AWHILE AFTER I WENT TO WORK THERE. HER MOTHER ALSO WORKED WITH ME FOR AWHILE. I BELIEVE THEY BOTH WERE NURSES AT DIFFERENT TIMES ON THE OLD FIRST FLOORS. BACK THEN, IF YOU WERE A NURSE, YOU WORE YOUR WHITE UNIFORM AND CAP. LIBBY SEEMED TO WEAR HERS WITH PRIDE. I LOST HER FOR A FEW YEARS THEN FOUND THAT SHE LIVED DOWN THE STREET FROM ME. AFTER THAT, I LOST HER AGAIN. AFTER SHE MARRIED RAND, I WOULD RUN INTO HER AT HIS OFFICE.SHE WAS THE SAME OLE LIBBY. IT HURT ME WHEN I HEARD HOW SICK SHE WAS AND UPON HEARING OF HER PASSING.IT IS SO STRANGE HOW SOMETHING IN LIFE WILL ALWAYS REMIND YOU OR CONNECT YOU WITH SOMEONE,A SONG,A SWEET SMILE,AND A RAIN BOW WILL ALWAYS REMIND ME OF LIBBY AND HOW SHE CAPTURED ME THAT DAY AT SCHOOL SINGING SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAIN BOW DOUGLAS ANN LIVINGSTON
Libby and I were married for 36 years. We raised two daughters together and no two persons could have ask for a more caring or loving Mother. She was there every evening with the school books spread all over, helping with the homework. There was music lessons, voice lessons, dancing recitals, piano recitals, sorority meetings, dances, plays,PTA, etc,etc---Libby was always there with a smile. I remember she drove the "get a way" car on several yard rollings---one a teacher's yard.
For years she worked at my office off and on. Everyone loved her kindness and compassion. If I were spending too much time in BS with a client and other clients were waiting, she squeezed this little child's stuffed cat that would give out a loud "MEOW".This meant,"move on" Rand!! Often I would bring a weak animal home and she would stay up all night caring for it. She worried about my patients and their owners. If I seemed a little detached on occasion, she would be there pronto to give me a loving prod. I had a sacred responsibility and she made sure I never forgot it.
Libby was always good with people, getting along well with all manner of humanity. She was basically a quiet,to her self type, who loved her family and home. There were a number of events that occured in a very short time that seemed to push her into a more depressed mode the last several years of her life--- both daughters had left the nest, her Mother and Father died, her best friend died, she was in a mower accident and lost five toes on one foot, one daughter was in a serious auto accident, and she started having terrible problems with her back. Back surgery gave no relief and pain pills are no real solution. Other health issues rose rapidly.
We started a downward spiral that none of us could stop. A beautiful person left us on March,2007---probably twenty years too early.

PS----- We still have that stuffed cat at the office. The girls still squeeze it for Libby every so often.
