1. Looking forward to retiring someday.
2. Really like what I do for a living. I work with computers and user support at Sarah Bush Lincoln in Mattoon, Il. I don't get to sit down much and that's what I like. I have been there 14 1/2 years.
3. I have one son. He is 26.
4. We have a 2 year old chocolate lab named reese.
5. This is my third marriage and the third time is a charm. We've been together 21 years.
6. Since we got our dog we don't go on vacations. Sometimes we'll take off for a day.
7. We like to go 4-wheeling.
8. My husband likes to hunt and fish. We have a pond in our backyard. We like sitting on the deck enjoying the scenery.
9. No grandkids yet, my husband is getting impatient.
10. I feel pretty lucky to have good health. Hurt my knee playing tennis a few years ago so that kind of did in tennis and a lot of walking.

1. We moved to Lafayette, IN in 1982. Thought it was the worst place ever - but now am glad we live here.
2. I still work at Chase bank - Complain about it sometimes - but really enjoy working with the college kids. I work at the campus branch. Russell is retired from Caterpillar but is more busy now than ever.
3. I have 4 children - 3 are married. Brian & Kathy, Portland Or, Jason & Erin, Atlanta GA, Lisa, Lafayette and Daren & Rebecca, Dayton, Ohio. After college they all scattered except for my daughter Lisa.
4. I have 5 grandchildren - Owen & Reese-live in OR, Jack & Audrey-live in GA, and Kaleb who lives in Lafayette.
5. My best times are when all of our children and grandkids get together with us - either here or on a vacation.
6. I love to watch Purdue football games - especially when Drew Brees was qb.
7. I like to read - and Brenda James Patterson is one of my favorites also.
8. I know it sounds old but I like putting puzzles together.
9. Cindy, answer to your question - turning 60 is kind of scary. I still feel young mentally but the achs and pains and when I look in the mirror my reflection tells me otherwise.
10. I have been blessed with the best life anyone could ask for. I have a wonderful husband, kids and grandkids. I love them all very much and they are my life.

Hi, All! I am trying to get a response in just under the wire. Don't know if I will make 10. I will try to write things that aren't in my bio.
1. One of my part-time jobs is ending next month, as the company is closing. I have worked for 3 years as an "administrative Asst." (secretary) Don't let a business teacher see me type!
2. I lost both my parents to smoking-related illnesses. Dad in 1973 to emphysema and Mom in 1994 to kidney cancer. Mom had sold the house in Faries Park in 1988. The Park is a disaster these days thanks to ADM. Ah, the smell of progress!
3. My nephew Tony (Bill's step-son) was killed in Afghanistan last August. It has been a tough year.
4. I enjoy reading and listening to books-on-CD. The latter are a good excuse to get to the gym and to walk (unfortunately, I never seen to do enough of either). Murder mysteries seem to be my number one.
5. I completed the 3-Day, 60 mile breast cancer walk twice, once in 2002 and again in 2004. I raised over $8000 each time.
6. We really enjoy our grandchildren. In fact, one way I persuaded my husband to come to the reunion was by promising a trip to Peoria to see them on the way back on Sunday.
7. We traveled to South Dakota for our mission trip in June and Ontario for a family reunion in July. Lorne grew up in Canada and lived 20 miles from Niagara Falls for several years before being transferred to the U.S. We try to visit the Falls whenever in the vicinity.
8. Next trip (after Decatur) will be to western Virginia at the end of September. We plan to hike, vist Civil War battlefields (I hope to get to Gettysburg), see my brother Jim and a college roommate, both of whom live in VA.
9. Now that this job is ending, I plan to emphasize my tutoring. Know anybody in Naperville who needs help in French or Latin?
10. We won't be there on Friday night, so save your stories for me for Saturday. I am looking forward to seeing EVERYONE. The best thing about these reunions is that the old cliques and jealousies seem to disappear. I didn't make it to 25, but was at the various all-Lakeview reunions.

Wife and I walked out of Caterpillar the same day, March 1, 2009.  Karen was the Workers Comp & Disability Mgr. &  I was Safety Mgr.  (I hurt them and she paid them.) Lol  Retirement home built, still tweaking a few things on home and woods. Rifle & Pistol range (200) yards finished.  Do custom reloading for normal and some oddball calibers. Karen is getting practice for her CCW.  Now that Illinois finally passed Concealed Carry, it's like a Capital One Card "You never leave home without it".  Finished about a mile of trails through the woods for Karen and our Rottie Anna.  Put in a decent sized garden every year including 3 strands of electric fence to keep the critters out.  Wife and dog learned very quickly about the fence. City girls and dogs just have to learn the hard way it seems. Real shame they don't make the old "weed burners" like my grandfather had. Wife and I belong to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. I'm Chairman of Church Safety Committee.  Karen volunteers at DMH. Lost Dad November 16, 2013 at 93. Karen's mom still living in Festus, Mo. at 94 years.  Decatur still going down the tubes and we are so glad we are out of there.  Nice to get up at five in the morning, read the paper, drink coffee and hear the neighbors rooster crowing.

Brother Richard Tolly & wife Bonnie are also Lakeview grads,1959.

FYI Many of you asked about Marilyn Fleener because she was supposed to be with us Sat evening. I just talked to her and she couldn't come because she has tendonitis (spell?) in her right arm and was in so much pain that the doctor made a house call! Now she is preparing for foot surgery. She still wants me to see her place and she's going to call me when she feels better.

News Flash--The next All-Lakeview Reunion is Aug. 10, 2010 at the Decatur Conf Center, according to Marilyn.

Four years later I see that Brenda Cox Hart has tagged me and I read these but obviously scanning and not serious reading. So here goes.  Four years ago we were all in our late fifties and it is hard to believe we have jumped into the sixties.  I dare not go into all of my whoas or this would be one boring post but quite frankly I lead a very laid back, slow paced life.  I have three children and four grandchildren whom I absolutely adore. The oldest is going to be 16 this fall and the youngest will be 10.  We have traveled a lot and I take a lot of road trips when Bill is not interested in my destination. Well, not quite true, those have become flying trips because of those whoas that we aren't discussing.  I will not be coming to the reunion this year and I just hate that but Bill bought me surprise tickets for 3 of my girlfriends and I on that Friday to a Blake Shelton concert here in Charlotte. If I get really crazy maybe I will fly in on Saturday and I will bring a bag dinner. I have been know for my spontaneity.  If not I will see you in 5 years when we will all again be closing yet another decade of our lives.  Well, I guess this is still a pretty boring post.

Just realized I was suppose to say 10 things about myself. Will leave it at what I wrote.

Judy,

I'm only 4 or 5 hours from Charlotte over in Knoxville area.  I'd be happy to take your Blake tickets off your hands so you can go to the reunion!

Think I'll force myself to use them Jerry. You say hi to everyone for me. Have a great time.

Unfortunately I can't attend this one, prepping for shoulder surgery that week. Guess we'll both have to read about it from our classmates.  Have a great time at the concert!

Judy, I'm sticking my nose into this conversation, but I will miss seeing you this year.  Was looking forward to seeing everyone.  Guess I will wait five more years - these last five went fast.  (as with all the years these days)- so hope to see you in five - and Jerry, hope your surgery goes well - I had back surgery last year - was a long recovery, but it took care of the problem, so prayers to you and hope to see you in five years also.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers and well wishes. Take lots of photos and post, will love seeing them and your comments. See you in 5.

Will miss seeing you as well Connie. Stopped in Lafayette end of July, on our way to Chicago, for gas and thought how sad it was that I couldn't spend a little time seeing you. But, my daughter was following us with her boys so not possible. For sure in 5 but who knows, maybe somehow before. We did try to find our old house because it was near the interstate but it has been 37 years since we lived there and it has changed. However, the apartments we lived in were still right behind the gas station we stopped at.

Victoria Mabry (Friesz)

Hello Everyone!

I was so looking forward to seeing everyone for our 45th.  On August 26 I had a small skin cancer removed and all went well, but I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic.  I couldn't believe how sick I got.  I was still recovering Saturday night and watched the clock and could imagine everyone arriving and being so happy to see everyone.  The pictures that have been posted were great to see.  I appreciate the time and effort everyone put in to making the reunion a success.

I recall reading that there is an all Lakeview Reunion.  Does anyone know if there will be a future one?  If so, how do I get my name on the email list for notification.

So what have I been doing?  My husband Ron of 34 years and I have taken up skiing.  We have advanced to some diamond slopes.  It is so hilarious.  I'm sure you all remember Mr. Claude Taylor our art instructor.  He always encouraged me, so now I have paintings all over the house.  After moving to Nashville from Houston, I learned Irish Step dancing and performed with the Irish Nashville Step Dancers.  I still enjoy practicing the steps.  To cover my gray hair I've gone blonde.  I'll submit a picture soon.  The ones I have now make me look old.

I like to reflect on my memories of all of you.  I do realize I didn't really get to know most of you very well.  We were all trying to figure out how to live, and think, and how to be.  I have played the "In Memory" video, and it does make me very sad, though I know their souls have returned to God our Father.  I can still see them at school walking down the hall, in class, at the games, and laughing.  I hope I get to see you all at our next reunion and hopefully at the All Lakeview Reunion if there is one.

Take care everyone and God bless you all.  Victoria Mabry Friesz

Charla Dennis (King)

I agree with you, Victoria...........

Looking back, it feels like none of us really got to know each other very well over all the years we were at Lakeview.  We were all just kids going through lots of "stuff" and trying to figure out who we were and what we were going to be.  It's funny, though......like you, I can remember faces, names, and even voices so clearly from Lakeview when I can't remember very many people I went to college with!  With age, you tend to look back at that time and suddenly realize how much it meant to you and how much growing was going on.....and everyone at Lakeview was a witness to it and ran along-side---even if we didn't "know" each other.

I wish I could have been at the reunion last weekend, too, but I will certainly be at the 50th!  I remember walking into the last reunion five years ago, and it was just so great to be "home", after living away for so long.  There is just something so wonderful being with a group of people---even if you haven't seen them for such a long time-- who come from where you come from and have so much in common with you---even if you didn't know them well.  You feel understood.

See all of you in five years!

Nancy Flanigan (Minton)

We certainly missed both of you, Vickie and Charla, as we did lots of others.  We especially thought of Vickie as her nametage lay unclaimed on the registration table.  There were several people asking if we knew what happened, so I'm glad to see your post.  Sorry you were not able to make it, but glad you are feeling better.  As I reminisced with some folks at the reunion, we talked about 6th grade with Miss Smith, passing notes, the old desks all connected in a row.  I still remember exactly where you sat, Vickie!  I always wanted to beat you in races, but you and Becky Wolf were the fastest.  I have so many great memories of a lot of people, many of whom I went to school with for all of LHS's six years, but also some grade school years as well.  Some...the entire time!

Charla, it was so great to see you five years ago and I hope you will be able to make the next one - our special 50th!  You were always so sweet to everyone in school; meanwhile, I was not!   Yes, the "In Memory" video was very sad.

There is an all school reunion and I will post the card I got from the Facebook page.  I think if you double click on it and enlarge it, you can see it better.  As a rule, not a lot of people from our class go, but some do.  Keep in touch, keep your information updated.  As people get rid of home phones, it becomes harder and harder to find them, and lots of people are moving after retirement.  Thanks for your comments, take care and stay healthy!!

Well, double-clicking and enlarging only works as I posted it, I guess!  It looks like now it is just a "Save the Date"  8/8/15 at the Decatur Conference Center & Hotel.  Contact geoburns@gmail.com or jkretsinger@comcast.net
