William Kenety

Walt came to us in his senior year, from Winchester, and did musical things like the Glee Club, Band and Dance Band.  He was my teammate on the track team where he ran the 440.  Perhaps the most memorable thing about having Walt on the team was that his stunning sister Regina sometimes came to meets.

Walt and I both went to Dickinson.  Both the President and the Director of Admissions at Dickinson came from Mount Herman and were pleased to accept three members of the Class of 1966 (Bob Stowell being the third).  I don't recall any "Hermies" in the class, which probably says something about something.  Walt and I were in the same fraternity (Kappa Sigma) where he was fondly known as "Brother Swal."

After graduating from Dickinson, Walt picked up an MBA from B.U. and ended up in Portland, Oregon (as did Regina).  He held management positions in several home improvement businsses, and at the time of his death was the General Manaer and Vice-President of a high-end remodeling firm.  He was active in the community, and was President of the local Rotary Club until shortly before his death.

Walt was married to Carla, a nursing supervisor, and had a son and a daughter.  He died far too young in May 2008 after a short struggle with liver cancer.  Brother Swal, R.I.P.
