In remembering Charlie, who left us almost 6 years ago, his quiet steadyness and quick wit stand out as well as his love of sports as both fan and participant.  For four years, from Mather to Barton, along with John Jensen, we shared a dorm floor.  Jeff Purtell and George Vary joined us for the last three.  Steady and encouraging, Charlie would often calmly refocus us.  He was the everyman, the interior lineman quietly doing his job, the big man in the paint positioning himself to help his team.  His daughter, Caroline, and I share a birthday, and every December 31 he would call me to remind me of that fact and catch up on life.   Both Charlie and his wife, Cindy, worked for the Cape Cod Times.  The following link lists remembrances of him from his colleagues.  The warmth and respect expressed will not surprise anyone. As we approach another December 31, I will once more miss Charlie's call.  RIP to you, Charlie Hibbert.

Wonderful comments, Val. Charlie was a rock solid guy, and I am glad he was so well appreciated by his coemployees at the CCT. I can hear his comments now about "losing him" and "last Wednesday."  He learned that at Deerfield and from Strunk and White, ,I'm quite sure.
