I will leave you all with this.

As you all might already know there is going to be alot of changing happening in our home town of Defiance soon regarding our beloved elementary schools, our parochial schools, and possibly our mother the Junior High, me being an employee of the schools I see things on a regular basis when it comes to the 'changing of the guard' if you will, I don't take a walk down memory lane everyday due to me being there eight straight hours a day but recently before the reunion and now definately after images inside and around these schools have ran through my mind like an army of steam rollers from the time Mike Shirk pushed I don't know who it was either Mickey Gambler or Craig Belknap through the cafeteria window when we were out on recess in sixthe grade, or the time all of us Slocum alums (Bill Heishorn, BJ Moss, Chad Dockery, Davy Hicks, and me) pulled that bloody mannequin out of that old Tenzer building that sat adjacent to the school at that time on to the playground and freaked everyone out, or that special toilet on the end in the visitors locker room in the Junior High which I sat on all the time during school when I didn't feel like going to class (that happened alot), and the time Dale called me a dumbf*ck when he picked me up after school to take me to Deja Vu for the first time because I had sweat pants on, the list goes on and on, where I am getting at is please take a moment and go visit your favorite school or take a picture of that special spot that was special to you in some way because once these schools are gone they are never coming back.

Also what I learned from this is to enjoy every moment you have now, it goes back to one of my favorite sayings "Some day these days now will be the good old days', that rings so true to the fact that 25 years from now we will all wish it was now along with those times of us all growing up together, I try to live my life from what Adam Duritz and the Counting Crows said in their song 'Long December', "I try to enjoy these moments as they pass", so peace, good luck to you all and I'll see you all again on this winding road we call life.

Fritz

I stand corrected, the Counting Crows line was:

" it is all the times I try to tell myself to hold on to these moments as they pass"

,,,,,,and no I am not drinking right now!

Heather Wright (Martinez)

That was very nice Fritz. You are right I have a daughter that is in Jr. High and it is something to walk down those halls and think back to the "good old days". I believe it was Craig Belknap that went through that window. And I have to say one of my memories, no that would be many of my memories are being stuck between you and Dale whether it be at the lockers, in class or in study hall. You two definately knew how to pass gas, belch and make some of the awfullest noises. Those weren't always the best of times, but definately something to look back and laugh about now.

I could have sworn it was Tony Barham that went through the window, but now adays who knows I could just be having a senior moment

10/20/08 11:52 PM #20

Fritz Zipfel

Thanks Heather!, it was always us (you, me ,Dale, Missi Young, Jenni Wray, Josh Zedaker, Greg Zimmerman, and last but not least Neilsson Ysaga) at the end of the line on everything, it sucked some time because we got to do everything last but it was also a blessing because we were always in the back of the class, right where I liked it!, you guys sure it wasn't Jeff Chiow that went through that window?, that is kind of wierd how we all kind of remember that day, just think that was about 22 years ago now!,,,,,OUCH!

John Clellan

I must say, I check this site everyday(along with my email and myspace) just to see who has opened or updated his or her profiles! This is a very cool site and thank you Jessica for establishing it. I also wanted to thank Holly, Shonda, & Heather, too for putting together a great reunion weekend!! And also to Fritz, very cool forum message, it got me thinkin about all the crazy, fun, awkward, memories from back in the days. I will be sure to reminisce the next time I am walking the halls in the Middle School and Junior High, Man, I loved those schools! Take care everyone, and I hope you all enjoy this site as much as I do! Oh, and I think it was Mickey Gambler who went through the window!

10/21/08 11:04 AM #22

Heather Wright (Martinez)

lol ok so we don't remember who it was that went through the window, i just remember it was so dang loud, i had just walked out of the lunch room and was standing there on that little patio. good lord i about pissed my pants. And Fritz, yes being at the end was always nice but sometimes when I was stuck between you and Dale I just wished a teacher would see what the two of you were doing. lol. no it was all good and those are definately things to look back and laugh about now. you guys made school fun. and johnny just like you i do the same i'm on here every day. i love this site. great idea girls! everyone have a great day.

10/22/08 11:59 PM #23

Fritz Zipfel

Ok we got Craig Belknap, Jeff Chiow, Tony Barham, and Mickey Gambler, if anyone else out there on the other end of this line can tell us who it was and resolve this it would be appreciated,,,,,,,,,,,,,,or not because this is too much fun talking about it,,,,,,you sure it wasn't Jimmy Marsh?

Definately a good site, very interesting to hear other peoples takes on shit that happened so long ago, hopefully I didn't scare too many people off with that 'wacked out' message!

10/24/08 09:04 PM #24

Amy Howarth (Johnson)

I only vaguely remember the window incident, so can't help with who it was. What a lot of memories this site has brought up! It's so funny to see everyone "all grown up". I still picture most of you the way you looked in highschool.

The reunion looks like it was lots of fun and looks to have had a great turnout. Hopefully I'll be able to make the next one.

I don't know about storage issues, but would there be a way for us to upload pictures from the past? Kind of like how there are reunion pictures... have pictures from elementary, middle, etc?

It's great catching up with everyone!

If I remember right, me and Vince were in our usual spot, doing our usual during lunch and breaks fight we did everyday, although I always though it was more just having fun... hahahaha. Anyway soon as the mystery person went through the window the excitment turned to the window and the crowd that was watching it as it went to a dead silence for a second lol. Good times, man I really missed you guys from 7th to 12th grade, Wauseon just failed in comparison to all my friends in D town. Take care.

10/26/08 11:19 PM #26

Is that what happened to your ass Rick?, I wondered where in the hell you ran off to back in the day, it was kind of like you were there one day and you were gone, kind of like Hoodini or something.

I don't know shit about computers Amy, but I'm sure you could, why not?, it would be pretty cool to see some of those 'old school' pictures.

Going back to my original posting even John McCain wanted to visit the Junior High before it gets a make-over or demolished, I must say it was pretty interesting from my standpoint that it isn't everyday you get to work with the Secret Service, check out alot of the pictures from the John McCain rally on the steps of the Defiance Community Auditorium on the Defiance City Schools website, and yes Secret Service knew who I was since they let me stand behind John McCain looking like I did, check out some of the pictures and you will know what I am talking about.

Hey all... Long time no see (or chat in this case). Well, other than John...I guess we saw each other what was that, this summer up in Stryker at the Hat show? Anyways, it's great that this website is up and running for all of us to keep in touch after so many years of silence. Thanks to the committee and everyone else who keeps coming back to build it up by posting profile information, forum responses and photos. I'm with Amy in my fascination of seeing everyone "all grown up". In my mind's eye, you're all 18 again. I'm the only one who's "old".
I didn't make it to the reunion, but I would love to see ya'll again. My husband's band plays at that shit hole (sorry Donna) in Defiance, the Westwood every few months or so. If anyone is looking for something to do some Saturday night, come see the Hat and visit w/ me! I'll post the days/times when I have that information - if you're interested. John - will you and Amanda be comin' out anytime soon?
Take care everyone.

Wow, you know times have changed dramatically when Mike R. and Brandon 'Juice' Cruz are hanging out at a cheerleading competition, that is like me visiting a monastery for the weekend, that is all good though that means they are very family oriented people.

Detroit was a cool place for that cheerleading stuff!

To kill time, I was able to take the people mover from Cobo Hall & head to the casino!!!
