Frederick R Batt was born April 25, 1948 to Alphonse and Helen (Justinger) Batt in Defiance, Ohio. Fred proudly served our coiuntry in the U.S. Army Military Police from January 4, 1967 - September 7, 1968 during the Vietnam War.
Fred was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, AMVETS Post 1991, Defiance Eagles Aerie 372, and was a life member of VFW Post 3360. He served the city of Defiance as a police officer from January 7, 1969 - April 8, 1980. He then was a bulk fuel route driver for Sohio, BP, then owned and operated Batt Petroleum, delivering to area farmers. Fred attended a Vietnam Veteran reunion in Kokomo, IN. He loved golfing, hunting and being outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Leonard, and eight brothers, Paul, Victor, Jerome, James, Ronald, Dennis, Harold and Thomas Batt.
Fred is survived by his brother, Eugene (Marge) Batt of Defiance, three sisters, Patricia Walter of Defiance, Kathleen Boyd of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Mary (Stan) Fitzenrider-Cox of Defiance, step-daughter Melanie (John) Finlay of South Bend, Indiana, step-son Chris Duquette of Seattle, Washington, and many nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
