Robert E. Kmiec, age 67, of Berkley, Michigan, passed away on July 4, 2026. Born on April 28, 1959, in Kittery, Maine, he was raised in Flushing, Queens, New York and later Deltona, Florida. He lived a life marked by faith, service, devotion to family, and quiet strength.

Bobby was the beloved husband of Mary Lisa (Edwards) Kmiec, whom he married on November 18, 1999. Their marriage was a source of deep joy and companionship throughout the last 27 years of his life. He was the cherished son of the late John Kmiec and Linda Decker. He is survived by brother John (Dawn Lynne) Kmiec, sister Nannette Gilmore, and step-sister Amelia Goldacker, sister-in-law Emily (Pedro) Arreaza, brother-in-law Benjamin (Elizabeth Stapleton) Edwards. Bobby will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, Kimberly, Gabriel, Anthony, Melissa, Francis, Heather, Sophia, Audrey, and Lucia.

Bobby served his country proudly from 1977 until 1982. Of all his assignments, his most memorable was serving with the 32nd Tactical Fighter Squadron while stationed in the Netherlands. He was recognized with the Air ForceCommendation Medal, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Air ForceTraining Ribbon, the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.

Bobby was a Christian man whose faith remained an important part of his life. He was a man who found comfort and strength in reading the Bible and sharing it with others through personal discipleship and ministry to those in need.

He valued the simple but meaningful blessings of life, especially the love of his wife, Italian food, and his beloved Yankees and Miami Hurricanes. Bobby was a talented artist and used drawing and painting as his creative outlet.

Those who knew Bobby will remember him as a devoted husband, veteran, and friend. He was a man who treasured meaningful conversation and found joy in being present for the people he loved. He remained close with his mother and cherished their weekly phone calls until her death in 2023.

Visitation, Friday July 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service 12:30 PM officiated by Chaplain Jim Smith. Sawyer Fuller Funeral Home 2125 12 Mile Rd. Berkley.
