With profound love, gratitude, and faith in God's promises, we celebrate the life and legacy of Mr. Johnnie Leroy Daniels, Sr., who peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, May 29, 2026, in Land O' Lakes, Florida. Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he has received his heavenly reward and is resting in the presence of the Lord.

Johnnie was born on January 21, 1958, in Jesup, Georgia, to the late Eva Lee and Leroy Daniels. He was raised in Central Florida, where he developed the values that would guide him throughout his life: faith in God, dedication to family, a commitment to education, service to others, and a determination to excel in all that he did.

A gifted student and athlete, Johnnie distinguished himself early in life. He graduated as Valedictorian of Deland High School, demonstrating the discipline and pursuit of excellence that would become hallmarks of his character. His academic success and athletic ability earned him recruitment to the University of Miami, where he proudly played football on a full scholarship.

While Johnnie accomplished much throughout his life, his greatest decision was giving his life to Christ during the 1980s at Church of Christ Written in Heaven in Goulds, Florida. From that moment forward, his faith became the foundation upon which he built his life. He believed in the power of prayer, the promises of God, and living a life that reflected Christian values. His faith sustained him through life's challenges and victories and became a lasting legacy for his family.

Johnnie dedicated his professional career to public service as a government employee. He served with integrity, professionalism, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on those around him.

On July 18, 1982, he married the love of his life, Deborah. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, family, and unwavering commitment. Their marriage was a testament to partnership, perseverance, and devotion.

Johnnie was a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, beloved brother, mentor, coach, and friend. He leaves to cherish his precious memory his beloved children: Shanti Daniels, Jaleena Riviere (Rodney), Courtney Daniels, Johnnie Daniels Jr. (Dezeray), and Johnnie Williams.

He also leaves behind his treasured grandchildren: Arianna Daniels, Byron Young, Rileigh Riviere, Aubree Riviere, Johnnie Daniels III, Myles Daniels, Isabelle Daniels, Mason Daniels, Isaiah Daniels, and Savannah Daniels.

He is survived by his loving brother, James Daniels (Sheron); his cherished goddaughter, Chenetta Timmons; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, lifelong friends, former players, and community members whose lives were touched by his wisdom, generosity, and love.

One of Johnnie's greatest passions was education. He firmly believed that education was a pathway to opportunity and empowerment. He instilled those values in his children and encouraged them to pursue excellence in every area of life. Through his guidance, sacrifice, and unwavering expectations, he proudly watched each of his children pursue and obtain college degrees. This accomplishment was among his proudest achievements and remains one of the enduring legacies he leaves behind.

Johnnie's commitment to young people extended far beyond his own family. For many years, he faithfully served as a Pop Warner football coach, most notably with the Richmond Giants. To countless young athletes, Coach Daniels was more than a coach—he was a mentor, role model, teacher, and father figure. He taught discipline, accountability, teamwork, and perseverance both on and off the field. He also volunteered with Upward Bound, encouraging students to pursue higher education and believe in their God-given potential.

Those who knew Johnnie knew that he was the life of the room. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh. A natural jokester, he loved playing practical jokes and keeping family and friends smiling. His laughter was contagious, his stories unforgettable, and his presence brought joy wherever he went.

Johnnie genuinely loved spending time with his family. Whether celebrating special occasions, sharing stories, offering advice, or simply enjoying one another's company, family gatherings were among his greatest treasures. His family was the center of his world, and he poured his heart into those he loved.

He also enjoyed fishing and found peace near the water. Some of his happiest moments were spent casting a line, enjoying the beauty of God's creation, and making memories with family and friends.

Johnnie believed in helping others, standing up for what was right, and encouraging people to become the best version of themselves. He challenged those he loved to dream bigger, work harder, trust God, and never give up. His influence can be seen in the lives of his children, grandchildren, former players, students, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Today, we celebrate a life marked by faith, family, education, service, laughter, and love. We thank God for blessing us with his life, his wisdom, his example, and his unwavering love.

Though we mourn his absence, we find comfort in the words he often shared with those he loved:

"Never say goodbye; it's always see you later."

And so, Dad, Coach, Brother, Grandfather, Friend—we do not say goodbye.

We'll see you later.
