Samuel Johnson

Samuel Rodes Johnson of DeLand, Florida, died at the age of 58 in the presence of his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer on 8/25/2017. Sam was a lifelong DeLandite and married his sweetheart, Carole, in 1977. Sam was a family man and lover of music, plants and all of God's beautiful works in nature. He enjoyed getting to know people on a deeper level and made many connections through these passions. He is survived by his four children, Nathaniel, Joshua, Samara and Shawn; his five grandchildren, Brendan, Alana, Joshua Jr., Avery and Carissa; his father, J. Richard Johnson; and his brother, Rick Johnson and sister, Cyndi Skinner. Sam is predeceased by his wife, Carole Johnson and his mother, Marilyn Johnson. Services will be held Wednesday, August 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dale Golden officiating. Lankford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. The family sends their deepest gratitude to all who surrounded Sam with so much love. Sam: A soul filled with an abundance of light and love. We will miss you so much.

Robin Whitaker (Butler)

 

Sam was a humble man with a kind heart.  I will always remember the fun we had over the years beginning with our classes together at the 7th grade center.  He was so funny and could always make me laugh.  Rest In Peace my friend.
