Robby was a great friend of mine and I can't believe its been 30 years since we graduated and almost 26 years since God took him to heaven on December 3rd of 1982. We worked hard together after school at Tropical Acres Restaurant and we sure played hard together whenevever we could. I always admired Robbys' strength and courage that he was forced to display everyday. You see, Robby was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at a very young age and simple things, like breathing, were often times a struggle for him. As poor as he often felt, he never complained, he just kept on living, living like he was dying. I guess that explains some of the stunts he pulled from time to time or the boldness of this courageous young man who was just too tough to fade away. I really miss his "kiss my #&$" attitude because he taught us what was really important, and it was not always worring about what others thought...he truly was out to enjoy life as best that he could , not knowing when his last day with us would be. He was blessed to have good friends and great parents, Bud and Juanita, you were awesome and thanks for putting up with so much of our "stuff"! I guess I am thankful we got to share Robby for almost 22 years, as the average life expectancy was between 15 and 17 years old for people with that illness in that day. Robby, you were the most courageous guy I ever had the pleasure of knowing...thank you for the memories and know how much I love you ...your friend and classmate...mike papp

Robby's parents were members of the Delray Elks. They started the "Country Western Night" event to benefit a summer camp for children with cystic fibrosis. After his passing it became "Robert Rogne Memorial Country Western Night". Twenty seven years later this event still takes place in February and is always a sellout. My brother-in-law Butch has been one of the co-chairs of this event and the rest of us volunteer. Through this event Robby's memory lives on.
