Jake Carl Hendricks (73) of Denton  Texas passed away on August 11, 2025 at the  Presbyterian Hospital in Denton Texas.  He was bom May 5th, 1952, to George  and Peggy Hendricks and married Beate Doerr  from Germany on March 5th, 1986, at  First Christian Church. 

Jake attended Lab Elementary School and Denton High School graduating in 1970. He was very athletic playing football, basketball, track and field during his school years. He joined the UNT Kappa Sigma Fraternity and became the pledge class president and was voted most athletic in Fall 1974.

While going to UNT he decided to move to Hollywood to study photography at Artography Academy of Photographic Arts. While living in California he was cast in commercials driving fast cars and riding Arabian horses.  He returned to Denton to  complete his Bachelor of Arts Degree from UNT majoring in Radio, TV and Film. A dare  devil by heart, "crazy" Jake started to road race motorcycles which earned him a  class Championship in 1980 and returned 25 years later to race in the Lone Star Classic event in 2011. 

He was a member of the North Texas Norton Owners Association riding his British bikes to meetings and enjoyed many friendships due to his natural ability to welcome new  members. His love for music and classic movies was evident to everyone who met him.  Jake was a history buff which led him to join a Civil War Reenactor's Cavalry group riding horses without fear during charges and showing them off in parades and grand entries. 

He is preceded by his parents George and Peggy Hendricks, and sister Helen Hendricks.  Jake is survived by his wife Beate of Augsburg, Germany: his brother David Hendricks and his wife Vicki, nephew Jeff Hendricks and family, niece Erin Hendricks and family; sister Cindy Evetts, husband Mike and nephew Nathan Evetts and family. 
 

A memorial service will be held Tuesday August 26th at 1 pm at First Christian Church, 1203  Fulton Street, Denton Texas
