Single mom of four of my own children; I also have two step children and am second mommy to several of my daughter's BFF's, who practically live with us on weekends.
All the boys graduated from East Lincoln and are on scholarship to college.
Max is at UNC-Charlotte on a Teaching Fellows Scholarship to be a history teacher.
Kurt attended NCSSM for two years on scholarship. After graduating with honors, he was offered a free education at NC State where he is studying for a career developing video games.
Raven got a scholarship for soccer to Methodist College and is currently enrolled at UNC-Charlotte studying to be a Mechanical Engineer.
Autumn is in third grade at Catawba Springs Elementary. She has a camoflage belt in Taekwondo at ATA and is a cheerleader in the Upward Program at Lucia Baptist, where I am a youth cheer coach. She is a Junior Girl Scout and wants to be a marine biologist.
My step son, Ryan Rawson, is following exactly in his father's footsteps; he is a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne in Fayetteville.
My step daughter, Courtney, is a senior this year and recently moved to Seattle to be with her dad. She is interested in being a veterinarian.
I am currently on the Dean's List and President of the ABK and PTK Honor Societies at ECPI,where I returned to college for a degree in Bio-Medical Imaging Repair after a work comp injury caused me to lose use of my leg for nine months in 2003. I'm fine now. It took several years of physical therapy to walk normally again. (Yea!!! No more walker or brace.)
Previously, I was a Computer Repair Technician for Getronics as Primary Field Service Rep on both the First Union and Mecklenburg County Government contracts.
I have been an active member in the Lincoln County Humane Society. I placed numerous homeless animals with loving families over the years and assisted in getting the animal shelter built in conjunction with the jail by speaking at County Commisssioners' meetings.
I began doing my family genealogy with my father and have learned much about my ancestors. If you've seen the movie "Cold Mountain", so have you! W.P. Inman is my third great grandfather; and the novel the movie was based on was written by my cousin, Charles Frazier! Oh, well! I thought it was interesting...If it weren't for the child born at the end of the movie...I'd have never been born!!!
My plans for the next year include moving to Seattle, WA to work on the Mobile Mammography Unit. While there, Autumn and I intend to volunteer to participate in the Orca Watch at Lime Kiln State Park, in our spare time. It is so amazing there...the whales swim so close you can reach out and touch them...if you haven't been, it is a life changing experience!!!
