Bill Carrol was always getting into trouble in Mr. Miller's class. Bill was lots of fun. Rest in peace Bill.

Bill was a happy go lucky guy. We called him Hurricane, have no recollection why.

I think Bill was called "Hurricane" because he was a very fast walker, and when he moved he had these sudden jerks to his walking gait, problably because of his tall, thin frame. You had to make room for him in the halls so he didn't bump into you (maybe it was just his nervous energy). But he always had a smile on his face and walked like he was in a hurry to get somewhere.

I never talked much to Bill he seemed to be a loner and not many friends. But he always had a smile

on his face that said Hello to everyone, whether you were his friend or not. Rest in peace Bill.

Bill and I grew up in Almonesson, where he lived with his mom in  a house on Almonesson Rd. across from Cunard's driveway.  I remember that we started calling him "Hurricane" as a natural response to Hurricane Carol of August 1954.  We were in Scouts together, Cub Pack 262 and  Troop 62 in Almonesson, though I believe he went to St Agnes Elementary School in Blackwood. Bill went into the Navy after graduation.  We played baseball often in the lot between Lakeview Inn and the corner post office (now Philomena's and a 24/7 convenience store) and of course spent time at Sunset Beach.  He and my cousin Bill Busch would often come up to our house for a day of "hacking' around the woods and fields.
