Actually Joe called my house about two weeks before he passed. He was on the reunion committee and we talked for a long time. When I went to the reunion I was looking for him but couldn't find him. Then I saw his picture on the table with a black cloth around it. I remember that he talked about how we could go at anytime. He was a good man. God bless him.
I seem to recall having the first Reform Party meeting at Joe's house. We won the Youth Week Election, The Weasel was the Mayor, and I recall Dale Taylor and I writing Eddie's speech and coaching him through its delivery, which was flawless, and wowed the Township bigwigs and astonished the school administrators. Joe Ropel was one of the key leaders of the Reform Party.
