George Cotten

George W. Cotten, 64, of Buda, TX passed away at his home on October 16, 2013 with his wife at his side.  He was born on May 17, 1949 to Mohler L. and Doris E. (Cotton) Cotten in Hutchison, KS.  George was united into marriage with Patricia Gail Simmons on August 6, 1983 in Lee’s Summit, MO. 

George is a Veteran of the United States Army.  He worked as a computer specialist for the United States Department of Veteran Affairs, in Austin, TX.  George retired from that position in 2005.  He enjoyed horse racing, Vegas, music and music festivals, and spending time in the mountains.  George loved to spend time with his friends and family. George loved life; he was always happy and never met a stranger.

George is survived by his wife, Gail Cotten of the home; sister, Patricia K. Alley and husband Willard K. of Blue Springs, MO; brothers, Forrest L. Cotten and wife Debbie of Wichita, KS, Larry D. Cotten and wife Val of Derby, KS, Richard D. Cotten and wife Tria of Wichita, KS, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Blue Springs Cemetery, following a visitation for family and friends from 9:30-11:30 at Meyers Funeral Chapel, Blue Springs, MO.  A celebration of George’s life will be held in Austin, TX at a later date.
