Cheryl Ann (Dall) Holder, January 22, 1950 - August 29, 2013

STRONG CITY - Holder, Cheryl Ann (Dall), 63, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS, after a long and courageous fight against cancer. Cheryl, the daughter of Melvin and Betty Dall, was born January 22, 1950, in Burlington, KS. She graduated from Derby High School in 1968. She married her high school sweetheart, Mike Holder, on August 16, 1969, in Derby, KS. They graduated from Kansas State University and moved to Chase County where she taught middle school for 34 years. She found great joy in being the Student Council sponsor and the pep club sponsor for many years. She was an active member and past president of P.E.O. (Chapter BZ), member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and the Altar Society. Survivors include her husband, Mike, of the home; daughter, Kellie (Jake) Tindle; grandchildren, Hannah and Cooper of Windsor, CO.; son, Scott (Amanda) Holder of Wichita, KS.; mother, Betty Dall; brother, Jim (Carol) Dall; sister, Sandy (Frank) Barnett; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Dall. Preceding her in death were her father, brother, Randy Dall, and her special Aunt Melba. Some things most of us did not know about Cheryl are that she was a freshman cheerleader at Emporia State University, was a member of the ESU gymnastics team and was named a varsity ESU Cheerleader before transferring to Kansas State University. Cheryl, later, tried out for the varsity cheerleading squad at KSU before being informed that she was ineligible because cheerleaders weren't allowed to be married in those days. At KSU, while working on her master's degree, Cheryl administered physical fitness tests to 4,000 freshman PE students for her master's thesis. Cheryl graduated magna cum laude with her undergraduate degree in education in 1972 and her masters in 1973.
