Leon "Skip" Harrison

Leon Skip HarrisonSkip resided in Des Moines. He passed away in 2001, and is survived by his wife Karen. Skip was a well known musician in the Central Iowa area, forming bands, Badlands, Sister Rey and the last 15 years the Accidental Sisters having 4 recordings in all. After he passed away his wife took a lot of his unfinished work and started a new band that is currently playing all over the Midwest. It has other members of Skip's old band. The New Soapbox Proffet Band is worth seeing so if you ever get the chance to hear them play, please do.

Leon Lavern "Skip" Harrison, 37, of the 3700 block of Indianola Avenue died of a heart attack Wednesday at home. Services will be at noon Saturday at Hamilton's Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home and burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Harrison was born in Vancouver, Wash., and had lived in Des Moines 25 years. He was a musician and had founded The Accidental Sisters band. He enjoyed music, reading, and writing.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; his parents, Betty and Dennis Harrison of Des Moines; two brothers, William Harrison of Salem, Ore., and Paris Bergler of Des Moines; and five sisters, Cindy Elliott of Vancouver, Brenda Turner of Salem, Ore., Pamela Baker of Des Moines, Vicky Harrison of Long Beach, Calif., and Debbie Bolfik of West Des Moines.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

So so sorry Skip. We sure had a LOT of FUN TIMES in School. You made the WHOLE School laugh with your Humor !   :) You are surely Missed That's For Sure. See you on the other side. crying
