Stanley P. Mitchell                                                 

                                                                                                  

Stanley P. Mitchell, son of the late Anthony L and Rita (Reis) Mitchell was born November 7, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa. He earned his angel wings and entered Heaven on September 27, 2018.

Stan was a lifelong learner. He graduated from Dowling High School in 1967. From there his learning journey included an under graduate degree in Political Science from the University of Iowa. He served in the Iowa National Guard. He achieved his master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado. Stan loved living in Colorado and enjoyed the beautiful Rockies.

He accepted a position with Hanscom Air Force base in Massachusetts and worked there for over 30 years. While employed there he furthered his education at the Naval War college in Newport, RI and attended the US Army War college in Carlisle, PA.

Stan had so many talents. He was one of those guys who could fix basically anything. He enjoyed wood working and stained glass projects. He once built a boat in his basement only to find out it had to be taken apart to get it through the cellar door. No problem, he got it done!

He had the amazing ability to talk with anyone and really enjoyed showing family and friends around New England. The history came alive when he would describe the scenery to you. Stan loved the Lord and helped others when he could. Family was so important to Stan. He would make many trips back to Iowa to visit his relatives. His phone calls, letters and text messages were welcome reminders that he was always thinking of us.

Stan's greatest joy was when he met Anne Marie Miller. They were united in marriage on April 15, 2000 and were truly blessed. Together they shared their love of sailing in the Boston Harbor, fishing in Cape Cod and traveling throughout Europe.

Stan is survived by his wife Anne Marie, her children Jason, Michelle, Leah and grandchildren Tyler and Spencer. His son Eric Stephenson and wife Nova. Siblings are Barbara Scott, Patrick (Teresa) Mitchell, and Mary (Mark) Amadeo .

A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday October 3rd at Westgate Church, in Weston, MA.
