Michael J. Neely

 Michael Joseph Neely,  56, passed away on October 21, 2005 at his home in Des Moines.  Funeral services will be held at Hamilton's Funeral Home at the corner of East 6th Street and Lyon on Tuesday,  October 25, 2005, at 1:00 p.m.  Mike will be buried immediately following the service at Sunset Cemetery in Des Moines. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating Mike's life afterwards at Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church at 4601 38th Street, Des Moines.

Mike was born on July 6th, 1949 to Kenneth and Caroline Neely in Dubuque, Iowa. During his childhood he lived in Dubuque, Iowa and Charleston, South Carolina before settling with his parents in Des Moines. He graduated from Dowling High School in Des Moines in 1967. On July 3, 1971 he married his livelong love Sharon Ann Ashby and together they had three sons; Nathan, Benjamin, and Aaron. He became a Christian and was born again in 1984. He was active in his church, Grace Reformed Presbyterian, in which he served as both a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. During his life he was also active with Des Moines Umpires Association and South Des Moines Little League. He often served his community as an election worker at the Belizzi MacRae American Legion Hall. He worked for Dahl's for 32 years. Mike will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and friend.

Michael is survived by his wife, sons and mother, his sisters, Shelly Bockert, Debbie Smith, Teresa McGuire, Jolene Neely, Jennifer Saathoff, and his brother, David Neely. He was preceded in death by his father.
