John Michael Burroughs, 57 passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the
Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

Mr. Burroughs was born on July 30th, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, IA the son of
Ellis and Otley Burroughs. In 1955 the Burroughs moved to Des Moines, IA
where he grew up and graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1968.

In 1969 he entered the United States Navy where he proudly served his
country during the Vietnam War. On November 13, 1973 he married
Christine A. Smith, his wife of 34 years.

John was best known for his giving character, kind heart, sense of humor
and wisdom. His passion was spending time outdoors hunting and fishing
with his faithful companion, Hoss. He was an excellent craftsman and was
always there to share his expertise and lend a helping hand.

John will always be remembered by his love for visiting with family and
friends, story telling and warm smile.

John is survived by his three sons, Jay and wife Tiffany of Saint Louis,
MO, Mike of Des Moines, and Tony of Des Moines; two sisters, Judy
Troster of Des Moines, and Jean Anderson of Des Moines.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 16th at Westover Funeral
Home, Des Moines. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held at
10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17th at Saint Mary of Nazareth, Des Moines.
Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines.
