Obituary

Timothy Joseph Ferin, 71, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on January 17, 2021.

Tim was born on January 15, 1950 in Des Moines to Ettore and Margery Ferin. He was the oldest of four boys. He attended Holy Trinity grade school and graduated from Dowling High School in 1968. Following high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War. On June 17, 1972 he was united in marriage to Barbara Frank. They made their home in Des Moines, where they raised their three children. They were later divorced.

Tim worked in construction and construction sales most of his life. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, and enjoyed shooting, gunsmithing, helping his children with home projects and tinkering in his garage.

Tim is survived by his children, Timothy (Nicole O’Neal) of Beaverdale, Katie (Thom) Thielman of Urbandale and Kelli (Daniel) Jones of Naperville, IL; grandchildren, Addison, Sydney, Owen and Ava; brothers, Steve (Jeanette) Ferin of Cedar Rapids, Joe (Vicki) Ferin of Urbandale and David (Karen) Ferin of Loretto, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
