Obituary

Jerrald R. Hardy

Jerry Hardy beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother died on December 30, 2021.

Jerry was born on December 16, 1949, eldest son of the late Lawrence and Marilou Hardy in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Dowling High School in 1968 and William Penn University in 1972. Jerry was a lifelong Des Moines area resident. He had a successful 38-year career with Kellogg Company working with Hy-Vee.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Bonnie, his two daughters, Katie (Jay) Alderman of Urbandale and Beth (Neal) Turner of South Africa and by his grandchildren, Isaac and Jailyn Alderman and William and Ainsley Turner. He is also survived by his sisters, Cindy Hardy and Sue (Christian) DenOuden and a host of dear friends.

Jerry was devoted to his family. He enjoyed teaching his grandkids to play golf. Jerry had a passion for golf, not because he excelled at it (hole-in-one four times), but because of the joy of the game. He said, "it is the only game that you are required to call a penalty on yourself. Golf has an honor code." Ever since Jerry and Bonnie retired, they have wintered in Palm Desert, California and summered in Norwalk, Iowa at Echo Valley Country Club so they could golf all year long.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his identical twin brother, Terry and his younger brother, Tim.

Jerry will be deeply missed by his many friends and family.

Memorial contributions in Jerry's name may be made to EveryStep Hospice Des Moines, Mission Hospice Palm Desert, or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Services to be held at a later date.
