Edward Leroy Rowden Jr., 81, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, beloved husband, brother, father, and adoring grandfather, long-time resident of Green Lake, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

Edward was born on April 22, 1943 in Everett, Washington to Edward Sr. and Vera Koepke Rowden. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan. A graduate of Mackenzie High School in 1961, Ed then pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Henry Ford Community College, later graduating from Lawrence Institute of Technology in 1967. In 1976 he moved his family to Green Lake, the same lake he spent many summers as a youth.

Ed enjoyed a successful career in Computer and Software Sales, known for his dedication, hard-work, and close relationships with colleagues. He was passionate about family, church, and sports--sailing, skiing, hockey, tennis, and cheering on Detroit’s Red Wings, Lions, Tigers, Wolverines, and Spartans. A true foodie, he loved cooking, entertaining, and embraced life fully. He gave back to his community through his church, neighborhood association, and lifelong dedication to Boy Scouts, as an Eagle Scout, Scoutmaster, and supporting his sons and grandsons in scouting.

He adored his seven grandkids and loved spending time with them, and attending their sports and activities.

He is survived by his beloved wife Madge of over 59 years, three children, Edward III (Michelle), Aimee (Martin), David (Jessica), as well as 7 grandchildren Owen, Noah, Evan, Layne, Anabelle, Gabriel and Nathaniel, siblings Kathryn & Richard, sister-in-laws Gayle, Lois and Faye, and his nieces and nephews.

The family requests donations to the Chris Lampe and Thomas Chrzanowski memorial scholarships, in lieu of flowers, honoring his role as a founding board member of Legacy [Central] Scholarships in 1981. https://www.wlcsd.org/families/scholarships/legacy-scholarship-fund.

Ed will be dearly missed and remembered for the joy he brought to all.
