As per Donald Tavarozzi:
Jim Green, class of Jan.'51 passed away Nov.21,2014. A memorial service will be held this month...Dec. 27.
James Archibald Green was born in Detroit on March 18, 1933 to George and Winifred. He graduated from Mackenzie High School along with his future bride Jere Ann Palmer. He went on to college, first attending the University of Michigan where he was a Phi Delta Theta and then finished his Industrial Engineering degree at Wayne State University. After Jim and Jere Ann were married, he joined the Army and the two of them lived in Germany for a year. Eventually they would settle down in Dearborn Heights and begin their family. In 1969 they moved to Beverly Hills and it was there that Jim passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 21, 2014. Jim and his family loved to spend time at their cottage north of Lakeport which has been in his family since his childhood. He spent his summers working on a freighter to put himself through college; here, he developed an interest in freighters that continued through his adulthood. Jim carried his love of the outdoors throughout his life. He especially loved to sail, fish, hunt and take walks at the cottage to the creek with his wife and family. Jim enjoyed woodworking and the projects he made for his children are still enjoyed by his grandchildren. Jim was innovative and forward thinking and enjoyed exploring new technology. Jim also had a love for trains, and enjoyed watching his garden train run around his pond in the back yard and playing with the HO scale train with his children and grandchildren. Jim was a dedicated family man and always loved having a family dog. Jim and his family also raised two dogs for The Leader Dogs for the Blind. He continued to support this organization throughout his life. Jim also loved to golf and bowl and was a lifetime member at Red Run Golf Club. Jim had been active with the Boy Scouts of America, which included being a Scout Master, the Lions Club, Mariner's Inn and the Birmingham Senior Men's Club. Jim had a wide circle of friends, even including his children's friends. He always greeted you with a firm handshake or a hug and was able to share a conversation with anyone. He shared whatever he had --knowledge, time, wealth, and was a great example of a terrific father and grandfather. Jim was very welcoming and opened himself up to everyone like they were part of his family. He was warm, outgoing, kind and always the family's cheerleader. Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Jim lost his brother George but is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jere Ann, his children: Jim (Shelly), Julie Deneweth (the late Robert) and John (Monica M.D.) and grandchildren: Jimmy Mac, Grace, Emma, Abby, Christopher, Alexander, Nathan, Natalie and Johnny. A memorial service is being planned at 1:00 pm at his longtime house of worship, St. James Episcopal Church of Birmingham on Saturday, December 27th. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in Jim's name to Leader Dogs For The Blind or St. James Episcopal Church of Birmingham. - See more at: http://www.desmondfuneralhome.com/obituary/James-A.-Green/Oakland-County-MI/1454869#sthash.J7aZ13Pu.dpuf
