Arthur Manoli (1963)

Arthur Manoli II, M.D. of Royal Oak, passed away peacefully in his sleep, September 14, 2020. He was 73 years old. Arthur was born September 15, 1946 in Detroit to Victoria (nee Codrean) and Arthur Manoli.

Arthur received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan and completed orthopedic surgery residency training at Wayne State University in Detroit. He completed a foot and ankle fellowship at both Vanderbilt University as well as Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

Arthur’s true passion was taking care of people. He was a master foot and ankle surgeon, an academic authority and a talented diagnostician. He had many accomplishments in his 50-year career, including over 130 published works and over 450 national and international presentations. Arthur trained over 45 fellows, and was a former department chairman. In 2012, he was awarded the Sigvard T. Hansen, Jr. M.D. Award for lifetime achievement in trauma and foot and ankle surgery.

An avid collector of antiques and vintage memorabilia, he was also an accomplished horticulturist who won various awards for his prized orchids.

Dr. Manoli is survived by his son, Arthur (Alexandra) Manoli III, daughter, Christina (Brian), and sister, Virginia (Jack) Hosmer. He is also survived by his nephew, Jack (Kim) Hosmer Jr., niece, Karin (Chris) Young, and great niece and nephews, Kaye, Jack III, Colin, Alex, and Tyler.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road (between 14-15 Mile Roads), Sunday, September 20th, 1-6pm. A Private Funeral Service will take place Monday 12 Noon; for those who wish to attend virtually, a livestream link will be provided on this page Monday morning.

Burial will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to Eisenhower Dance Detroit, 2155 Cole Street, Birmingham, Michigan 48009, where Arthur served as a board member.
