
Norma Pascoe Zemke of Ann Arbor, MI, passed away on July 14 at the age of 87. She was born on September 13, 1935 in Detroit, MI, where she attended St. Luke’s Catholic School and Mackenzie High School. She attended the University of Detroit where she was active in the Delta Zeta sorority; she graduated with a degree in Sociology. She also met her husband, David Zemke, at U of D – they married shortly after graduation. She worked as an elementary school teacher before becoming a full-time mother and homemaker. David’s career in the automotive industry at Ford and AMC led to many job relocations and adventures, which Norma coordinated with expert skill. She honed her artistic talents and became a well-respected calligrapher, active in the Michigan Association of Calligraphers and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Association. She also was an avid golfer.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband David, her parents George and Victoria Pascoe, and her sister Irene Alchalabi. She is survived by her daughters Dina Marie and Jill Zemke, her sister Emily Rosenquist, along with many nieces and nephews, and many friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bradford Wylie, her physician for more than 25 years, as well as the staff at Chelsea Hospital, Atria Park, Arbor Hospice, and A Heart that Cares for the care and compassion they showed Norma in her final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Muehlig Funeral Chapel at 403 S. Fourth Ave in Ann Arbor from 4:00 – 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 19. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 3430 Dover St in Dexter, MI on Thursday, July 20 with visitation at 10:00am and Mass at 11:00am, followed by interment at Forest Hills Cemetery in Ann Arbor. Flowers and/or memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are equally welcome.
