The best information I have on Michael Branch is that he was killed in a solo traffic accident in the early 80's.
Michael was a member of the Varsity football team and "The Erskins" Club in 1978. He was a great friend at Osborn and he was a good athlete. I believe he went to college after graduating but I'm not sure where.
I don't remember where this happened but I recall that the authorities determined he had either fallen asleep or lost control of the car he was driving.
He was found in his car which had gone of the highway and I don't believe any other vehicles were involved.
Michael was in the service and he had visited his family in Detroit and was in the process of driving back to California where he was stationed. Michael was a very determined person as many may recall, and he was determined to make it back in record time so he drove through, without making frequent stops. Michael was overcome by fatigue and fell asleep at the wheel and went off a clif somewhere between Neveda and CA.
Michael was a dear, dear friend and his death hit me particularily hard because I had spoken with Michael while he was home. From that point, I became a firm believer that you should live eacfh day to its fullest and give people their"flowers" while they are around you and not wait until they are gone.
