I received the following message from his daughter.

Hello, I was scrolling through my fathers email and saw a few “update” emails from your site. Sadly, my father, Bruce Getzan, passed away in July 2020. He spoke of his days at Debby often. We are all pretty heartbroken. Kind regards, Erika Mazero

Yes, this is sad news. I first found out from the Detroit Free Press on-line obituaries. I notified Andy Baetz about his passing. I also called Bruce's high school counslor, John Kastran, and brought this news to him. Please pass the info on to Erika. May he rest in peace. John Vorpagel

Although he lived "around the corner," Bruce was an honorary and active member of the Lakepointe Cowboys and Indians Tribe.  Together with Andy Baetz, Gary Briney, Davey, I, and an otherwise rotating cast of characters who popped out of other houses, we re-created the Old Days of the Wild West.  We tore across yards, scrambled over fences, tromped through landscaping, and delighted in doing away with each other.  Bruce possessed, by far, the best and most realistic Cowboy regalia of all of us.  Being the only girl, I was always stuck being an Indian, but we had a great time.  RIP, Bruce.  heart
