Max Ackerman

Max Akerman (spelled this way in the obit) 

Max Eugene Akerman, born January 11, 1938, passed away August 17, 2022. Max was born in Dixon IL, the son of A.G. And Alice (Kniss) Akerman. He has an older brother (Wayne) and a younger brother (Paul). Max attened Iowa St. and eventually graduated from Monmouth. He married Jane Keller on Aug 16, 1966 in Grrand Ridge, IL. Max had a passion for sports and participated in football, basketball, and track and field in high school and college. After college Max joined the army where he taught Electronic Warfare (radar jamming and anti-jamming) to US and NATO troops involved in foreign conflict. Upon leaving the military Max worked at Lake Park High School as teacher and couch (Football and Track). Next he took a job at International Harvester (later Navistar) where he was employed for over 30 years until retirement. Over the course of Max's life his love of sports flourished in many forms. He got involved Wheaton Park District Youth Baseball for May years as a couch of Kyle's teams and in many League Office roles, including President. Max loved Track and Field and participated for 30+ years in Illinois HighnSchool Association track meets, first as Clerk of the course then as a Starter. In 1993 Max and Jane became charter members season ticket goers of the Kane County Couger Minor League Baseball team. For the next 30 years he could be found in the stands supporting the Cougars at most home games and many away games. From 1994 through 2010 Max and Jane houses over twenty Cougar players during the baseball season. Over the years the Akerman's house became a top host family destination for Kane County players. Max was a loving husband, father and patriarch of the family. He is survived  by his wife, Jane, son Kyle, his nieces and nephew: and the rest of his family.
