Louise A. Corken age 86 of Dixon passed away on Sunday Feb. 9, 2025 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon. She was born on June 30, 1938 in Dixon the daughter of Sherwood and Helen (Cahill) Dixon. Dixon High School graduate (1956), BA Rosary College (1960) and MS NIU (1992). Louise was a teacher for 35 years, which included 30 years in Dixon Public Schools and another 20 years subbing in retirement. Louise was a member of St. Anne's Church. She was active within the Dixon community throughout her life. She served in various roles as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, Lee County Cancer Society, KSB Hospital Auxiliary, Sister Cities Program, Dixon Lioness, Dixon Park Board, Dixon Library Board, City of Dixon Plan Commission, Dixon Education Association. Her passion since 2010 was the St. Vincent DePaul society. She married Thomas J. Corken on July 31, 1965. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Langan and brother in-law Greg Langan, brothers Henry Dixon, William Dixon, Patrick Dixon, and son in-law William "John" Henry. She is survived by her children Helen Henry of Dixon, James Corken of Hillsborough NC, Katie Corken of Rockford, David (Megan) Corken of Chicago, seven grandchildren Cody Hawkins, Kalei Williams, Ellie Corken, Thomas Corken, Sam Corken, Seamus Corken, Finley Corken, and great grandchild Leila Louise Williams-Ali. She is survived by her brother James (Judy) Dixon of Dixon, David (Marge) Dixon of Grand Detour, sisterin-law Linda Giesen of Dixon, brother in-law Mike (Linda) Corken of Aurora, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday Feb. 15,2025 at 11 am at St. Anne's Church, Dixon. Visitation will be Friday Feb. 14, 2025 from 2-7 pm at the Holloway Center adjacent to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dixon. Luncheon to follow burial. Arrangements made by the Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. Memorials to St. Vincent DePaul Society.
