Mary Gower (Stauffer)

Lake Bluff. IL - Mary Stauffer, 76, of Lake Bluff formerly of Dixon, passed away Saturday Jan. 31, 2015, at Westmoreland Nursing Home in Lake Forest.  She was born Oct. 24, 1938, to Virgil and Dorothea Gower, Mary spent her childhood and young adult life as a resident of Dixon. She was a graduate of the University of Illinois, and earned her master's degree in physical therapy, from Northwestern University.  She married Delmar Stauffer on Nov. 20, 1965.  He preceded her in death in 2000. .After having lived in Evanston they moved to Lake Bluff, where they built their life together.  Mary is survivied by her sons, Andrew (Audrey) Stauffer of Fort Waune, Indiana, and Matthew (Elizabeth) Stauufer of Lake Bluff, her six grand children, Reagan, Callan, Drew, Gavin, Brent and Lilly, her brothers, Bob and Tom (Georgia), and Bill (Patty) Gower. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Mary was an avid golfer, and had a love for the family tadition of fly fishing. Yearly trips to the rivers and lakes of the Rocky Mountains allowed her famly to learn and love her favorite pastime.  The family wish to thank all of those who provied care to and prayed for Mary during her illness.
