Roger Rhoads

ROGER E. RHOADS, 86, of Fenton, IL, died Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, IL.

Roger was born June 23, 1938, in Dixon, IL, to Raymond and Anna (Folkers) Rhoads. He was educated in the Dixon schools and graduated from Dixon High School in 1956. Roger served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963, followed by service in the reserves until 1967. On December 12, 1961, he married the love of his life, Marjorie Mae Glazier-Jensen, in Morrison, IL. They shared 54 wonderful years together before Marjorie’s passing on September 25, 2016. Roger worked for Willett-Hoffmann & Associates in Dixon, IL, until his retirement in 1989. Even after retirement, he continued consulting for several years in the Quad Cities for engineers. Roger was a member of the Fenton Methodist Church and a host of the Fenton Coffee Club. Roger had a lifelong love of cars and car racing which led him to become a member of the British Car Club of Illinois and the Quad City Austin Healey Club, where he served as an officer for 10 years. He was a skilled handyman, always ready to lend a helping hand. He and Marjorie enjoyed traveling, exploring the country together from coast to coast. Above all, Roger cherished spending time with his family.

Survivors include Bill Schaller, Larry Jensen and Don (Julie) Jensen; grandchildren, Mary (Brian) Oostenryk, Randy (Rita) Schaller, Cathy (Dan) Hawkins, Dawn (Darin) Housenga, Donna (Dan) Rus, Chris Jensen, Mike Mitchell, Chris Mitchell and Ashley (Chris) Cusumano; many great & great-great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Rhoads; niece, Emily Rhoads; nephew, Paul Rhoads.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Marjorie; Judith Schaller and Beverly Jensen; great-grandson, Jobe House; brothers, Raymond & Russell Rhoads; niece, Sarah Rhoads; nephews Chris Rhoads & Alexander Rhoads.
