Just wanted to say that I was able to spend a couple of hours with Rhonda last year and it was so nice to talk about Dixon High School and her children and mine. We had some great laughs . What a sweet sweet woman and a good friend to me. I will certainly miss her sweet spirit. She would always host come of us or whoever wanted to come after our HS reunions and we had a blast . Rest in peace my friend.
I am so sad about Rhonda's passing. She was always thoughtful, even when we all were in grade school. And her happy spirit was with us all then and in high school and at each class reunion.
Groups of us would often gather at her home, as kids, and then again as adults at reunions, reflecting about our various experiences. We were always welcome. And we had lots of fun together trying to figure out life.
Rest in peace. ❤️
I had recently learned that Rhonda was ill and I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. She was a long time friend from grade and high school. She will be missed. Rest in Peace Rhonda!
So sorry to hear of the Rhonda's passing. As many have pointed out, she was always a calm, sweet, and funny gatherer of friends when we were young and at reunions. Her laugh and smile told us we were always "Ok," with her. Nobody had to prove they were "cool" to be her friend; we were all welcome and part of her "bunch." There was not a bit of meanness of spirit in Rhonda, ever. She could wise crack with the best, and poke fun, put she was always kind, even when we might have been talking crazy ideas or were too full of ourselves. She never tried to be the center of attention, but she always spread fun and good times and let us know that we were welcome in her orbit.
At the same time Rhonda was also up for adventure ready to draw people together on the Court House lawn, to head out to make hot air balloons out of plastic garment bags at Gary Edmunds house on Lord's Hill or go exploring in abandoned haunted houses. As Sue and Evelyn and others have noted, Rhonda always invited people to gather at her house or elsewhere at reunion times for laughter and talk, for news and just to be present together, With Rhonda's passing, our class has lost one of our great ones. Over the years, I've thought many times of some lines from one of my favorite song's, "Bob Dylan's Dream," in which Dylan writes, "I wish, I wish, I wish in vain, that we could sit simply in that room once again//Ten thousand dollars at the drop of a hat // I'd give it all gladly, if our lives could be like that." We were lucky to have had the good times we had together and when I think back to those times, Rhonda is so often in the middle of that crowded and happy room once again. May her memory always be a blessing to all of us.
Rhonda was one of a kind! She cared about people. We are fortunate to have her in our class and lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. They have been with her through very difficult times and have shown us how much she was loved. We talked on the phone in December and she shared her concerns about my brother's death and my broken wrist and leg and other injuries from our youth. She turned the tables on me with her caring and understanding. I barely had a chance to talk about her. She redirected the conversation to share family news.
What sad news...Rhonda was a great freind and a great lady. I will miss her smile and friendship! R I P my freind...my condoelnces to Ron and the family.
Rhonda will be missed at reunions, and especially at Jefferson Grade School graduates get togethers. I was in kindergarten through Dixon High School with Rhonda. There were many many sleepovers, birthday parties, neighborhood gatherings, gab sessions, cheerleading, prom decorating committees and times of just goofing off. I appreciate these memories.
I am so sorry to hear of Rhonda's passing, and my thoughts and prayers go out to Ron and their kids families. Rhonda was a special person in our class, like many said she was always there at parties, get togethers, events, and just fun times. I remember seeing her at parties and most of all on the court house lawn. Whenever I would see her at a reunion there would always be a hug and a glad to see that you could make it.
About 5 years ago I had the opportunity to see Rhonda and her husband Ron, along with her brother Tom and his wife Nancy. I visited a very special friend for about 3 months and during that time we would all meet along with others at the Country Club bar and restaurant. We would talk about the old times and the fun we had growing up and also the new times, kids, retirement, etc. I am glad that I had a chance to visit with Rhonda again and very sad that she is no longer with us. RIP Rhonda.
Rhonda was the constant for all trips to Dixon. Whether a wedding, wake or class reunion Rhonda was always there with her bright exuberance and welcoming manner. I feel badly that I won't be able to attend any service for Rhonda. I know that she would be there for mine.
